Okay what was this sequel??This was amazing, especially the first half。 It was electric and so unexpected I loved it。 There’s definitely more plot than the first book and I loved that。 Also there is a new couple and I am 100% here for it。 I want the third book now!!↠5 stars

I liked this less that book 1 and eventually threw in the towel about half way。I think I’m just too old for this - the premise had some great potential that just wasn’t delivered on。 And I really grew to dislike Nino。

Karla Nikole

The Lore and Lust series is a romance first and foremost。 Consent, communication, growth and trust are always at the center of each story。 The Vanishing is lightly sprinkled with some action and adventure, and we dive a little deeper into this modern vampiric world where love is love, no questions asked。

This novel was amazing, like the first。 However there’s something about the first book that’s nostalgic, and this book didn’t hit those same feelings like the first。The romance is well established in the first book and, although they are apart of the world, they aren’t directly affected until this novel。 That’s apart of what changes the vibes, however that hasn’t left me disappointed。This novel explores those events from the first novel, expanding on them, and the characters become directly impa This novel was amazing, like the first。 However there’s something about the first book that’s nostalgic, and this book didn’t hit those same feelings like the first。The romance is well established in the first book and, although they are apart of the world, they aren’t directly affected until this novel。 That’s apart of what changes the vibes, however that hasn’t left me disappointed。This novel explores those events from the first novel, expanding on them, and the characters become directly impacted。I like the new romance that’s formed because of this and that we receive diversity because of this (a straight romance)。 I’m excited for the next book to see where things go。 One disclaimer for this novel, it’s predictable。 I personally don’t mind if a novel is predictable if it’s still a good story/well done, and this is definitely well done。 However, nothing that happens is overly surprising, the novel rather builds anticipation towards these events you know are going to occur。 You’re just left waiting and wanting。Anyways, thoroughly enjoyed it, best sex scenes ever written regarding my gays Nino and Haruka, Cellina and Giovanni were cute or whatever hehe。 。。。more

⭐️4。5 stars⭐️“I am interested in anything that pleases you。”The beginning of this story jumps forward a little bit from where we left off in book one。 Haru and Nino both have their responsibilities and love what they do。 Their love is just as evident and displayed in the sweetest ways, as well as spicy ways。 The plot that was sprinkled throughout book one definitely shows its head in this sequel。 Haru has to deal with battling his emotions as the worst thing that happened to him almost happens a ⭐️4。5 stars⭐️“I am interested in anything that pleases you。”The beginning of this story jumps forward a little bit from where we left off in book one。 Haru and Nino both have their responsibilities and love what they do。 Their love is just as evident and displayed in the sweetest ways, as well as spicy ways。 The plot that was sprinkled throughout book one definitely shows its head in this sequel。 Haru has to deal with battling his emotions as the worst thing that happened to him almost happens again。 Vampire magic is explored a little more and we get to see it used in different ways。 There are more POVs introduced here as we get to know more about some of our side characters from book one。 I fell in love with them too。 I know I’m being a little vague with details in this review, but I can’t say much with it being the sequel without spoiling! I loved it though。 My heart is so full with this love story as it stayed true to its sweetness and the bond between these characters。 。。。more

I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as the first。 Without the world and relationship building, I just didn't care quite so much about these characters。 The incorporation of a MF relationship and sex, as well as a lot of talk between Nino and Haru about having children, uninterested me。 The villain and his island could have also been explored a lot more in the text instead of spending so much time building Cellina and Giovanni's relationship。 That should have been done in their own book, target I didn't quite enjoy this one as much as the first。 Without the world and relationship building, I just didn't care quite so much about these characters。 The incorporation of a MF relationship and sex, as well as a lot of talk between Nino and Haru about having children, uninterested me。 The villain and his island could have also been explored a lot more in the text instead of spending so much time building Cellina and Giovanni's relationship。 That should have been done in their own book, targeted towards people who are more interested in MF。 Granted this book is marked as "queer" rather than MM but the first book was only MM so I think the carryover of those readers to here is going to be your target audience。I enjoy the world that Nikole has written but I do have some issues with her writing - the pacing is very off but also there are a lot of issues in the dialogue。 You have these 100+ year old vampires that speak multiple languages but it seems their grasp on English is tenuous; they speak very formally like a textbook (like saying "the male" to refer to someone when they're just talking amongst themselves) so a lot of the dialogue is a bit odd and didn't flow in a realistic way。 No friends speak to each other like that in any language。 It's just all very stiff and uncomfortable - it takes you out of the book。Overall, I do really enjoy Haru and Nino's story and world but I don't have high hopes for the next installment。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Okay, este libro sí estuvo mejor que el anterior。 Le hubiera dado 5 estrellas pero sinceramente los POV’s de Cellina y su relación con Giovanni me arruinaron un poquito la lectura。 Estuve muy tentada a saltarme todas las partes donde narraba Cellina, pero a final de cuentas si tuve al menos un poco de curiosidad por saber cómo evolucionaba su relación con Giovanni, supongo que eso me inspiró a seguir leyendo sus POV’s lol。 Dejando a Cellina de lado, AMÉ la relación de Haruka y Nino en este libro Okay, este libro sí estuvo mejor que el anterior。 Le hubiera dado 5 estrellas pero sinceramente los POV’s de Cellina y su relación con Giovanni me arruinaron un poquito la lectura。 Estuve muy tentada a saltarme todas las partes donde narraba Cellina, pero a final de cuentas si tuve al menos un poco de curiosidad por saber cómo evolucionaba su relación con Giovanni, supongo que eso me inspiró a seguir leyendo sus POV’s lol。 Dejando a Cellina de lado, AMÉ la relación de Haruka y Nino en este libro。 De verdad su relación creció y floreció muchísimo desde el primer libro y amé cada uno de sus momentos e interacciones。 La trama no se sintió taaan apresurada como la de Lore & Lust y creo que fue ligeramente más interesante。 Nino sigue siendo mi personaje favorito, eso sí, un rollito de canela sin una pizca de maldad。 Lo que más me emocionó fue el epílogo, de verdad me muero de ganas por leer el próximo libro, más que nada por Junichi y su (posible) relación con el Doctor Jae。 。。。more

The boys are back and I’m soooo happy!!! *dreamy sigh* Nino and Haru are just as adorable as ever, I missed them。 And now we have much more sexy Giovanni! *fans self* Little more plot-y this time around and we get to know some other characters a little more。 Over all a great addition to the first book。

I'm disappointed。 Really。I couldn't wait to put my hands on this book because I loved the first so, so much。 So imagine my face when I read the book and was disappointed in it。 I wanted to DNF it at least three times! And I'm not talking about off page romance, the MF scenes were there。 There were several chapters filled with MF, and the worst - there were 2 (!!!!) MF sex scene too。 If I want to read about MF couples, I'll go and pick something from the MF world (which I don't)。 If you go and put straigh characters with hetero sex in your book, put a damn tigger warning in you book。 Why was it important, I still don't get it? Give those straight vampires their HEA in a short story, but not in the main book where MM is the centre。 Anyway。'The Vanishing' itself first was exciting too, but after a while it got boring too。 It wasn't strong enough plot for the book, and it ended really easily too。 Haru was adorable when he couldn't say sexy words but Nino pushed him to say those。The ending was sweet, but I couldn't appreciate it as much as I wanted to。 This book is a disappointment for me and I'm so sad about it。 Haru and Nino were two unique vampire in my heart, but after reading this book。。。 I don't know。 I just want to forget about this book。 。。。more

This second book of the series is just fabulous。 The wonderful world-building we saw in Lore & Lust continues here and we learn more about The Vanishing which has plagued the purebred vampires for centuries。 The heart-warming interactions we loved from the first book continue in spades too, and I just love seeing the development of the relationship between Haru and Nino。 Haru himself always seemed so put together in the first book and it was nice to see him come apart in places here - whether in This second book of the series is just fabulous。 The wonderful world-building we saw in Lore & Lust continues here and we learn more about The Vanishing which has plagued the purebred vampires for centuries。 The heart-warming interactions we loved from the first book continue in spades too, and I just love seeing the development of the relationship between Haru and Nino。 Haru himself always seemed so put together in the first book and it was nice to see him come apart in places here - whether in the intensity of his and Nino's intimate moments or in the emotional impact of certain moments in the novel that I don't want to spoil here! I have to say。。。 This book did not slap as much as the first one。 Although I still found it highly entertaining, I was able to see its flaws far more clearly than in the first book。 First and foremost, the pacing of this novel was all over the place。 It felt like things happened both too slowly and too quickly。 This was especially obvious to me with the main conflict in this book。 (view spoiler)[ When Nino is “vanished,” the set-up is just so awkward。 It literally feels like it comes out of nowh I have to say。。。 This book did not slap as much as the first one。 Although I still found it highly entertaining, I was able to see its flaws far more clearly than in the first book。 First and foremost, the pacing of this novel was all over the place。 It felt like things happened both too slowly and too quickly。 This was especially obvious to me with the main conflict in this book。 (view spoiler)[ When Nino is “vanished,” the set-up is just so awkward。 It literally feels like it comes out of nowhere (even though I knew since book 1 that this plot point would come)。 He is also reunited with Haru far too quickly to take advantage of the tension their separation could have provided。 Furthermore, after Nino and Haru are reunited, Lajos is incapacitated way too easily for it to have felt satisfying。 I chalk all of this up to pacing。 (hide spoiler)]In addition to the pacing, the writing style felt more stiff in this novel。 Maybe this is because the novel is longer than the first installment, and so it’s just a larger volume of phrases that feel too formal。 It reads。。。 I don’t know how to explain it beyond saying that the phrasing doesn’t match the overall tone of the book。 This is especially the case in the descriptions。 The dialogue in here, as in the first book, is perfection。 It makes me laugh so much。 But the rest of the writing? I’m not so sure about it。 Still。 Rating this any lower than 3 stars is insincere about my general enjoyment of the story。 Mainly, my love for the characters in this series was only deepened with this book and was one of the primary reasons I still had a good time。 I literally would lay down my life for Nino and Haru。 Both of them have so much baggage they still need to work through, and I loved how we got to see even more character development here。 For Nino, it’s all about taking responsibility and growing more confident in himself and his abilities。 For Haru, it’s a continued journey of opening up about his desires and needs。 It’s also about him learning to embrace that he doesn’t have to be so overprotective of Nino because Nino is powerful in his own right。 In addition, the scenes Haru had with little kids were in and of themselves enough to make this an enjoyable read for me。 I love seeing adults who treat children with so much clear love and adoration。 It just makes my heart very soft。 I seriously need book three to feature MULTIPLE scenes of Haru and Nino with their (hopefully) future child。 Otherwise, I’m gonna have to fight the author because I have NEEDS。 Apart from Haru and Nino, I also absolutely loved Cellina and Giovanni。 Although their romance was poorly paced, I still adored it。 I loved the dynamic between the two of them—these very self-sufficient vampires learning to lean on each other。 They both needed each other, and I think that’s beautiful。 Though I must admit that Giovanni’s alpha male bs would make me hate him if he was real。 Lol。 Finally, the side characters here were absolutely wonderful。 Asao continues to be my KING。 He is an ICON。 I genuinely would love to read all about him。 That’s how much I respect and love that vampire。 On the other hand, Jun and Ladislao were delightful for their slutty energy。 Both these men had me cackling as I read。 Ladislao especially had absolutely no chill。 I support him getting the sex he so desperately needs。 Lol。 Jun is more chill, but he still made some comments that just had me laughing so hard。 So, yeah。 Did I enjoy this book as much as book one? No。 But it still was incredibly entertaining and delivered characters I found incredibly lovable。 。。。more

I'm in love with the world the author has created。 The overarching plot continues in this book and we learn quite a lot。 Fascinating stuff!
